The Andante Estate Vineyard
Our Quiet Corner of the Willamette Valley
Our 15 acre estate vineyard tucked in the rolling hills of the Van Duzer Corridor AVA sits on shallow, marine sedimentary soils made up of a silty clay loam above siltstone bedrock. Known for its cooling winds from the Pacific Ocean, the Van Duzer Corridor American Viticultural Area (AVA) was first established in 2019 and encompasses 35.9 square miles of land with nearly 1,000 acres of vineyards and wineries. Our vineyard’s microclimate makes for a truly unique site that produces beautiful fruit for our wines.
Our original varieties of Pinot noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon blanc were first planted in 2011. Our Sauvignon blanc plantings were inspired by Karen’s love of wine from the Sancerre region in France. Although not a typical variety to plant in the Willamette Valley in 2011, our Sauvignon blanc has since become one of the most loved, flagship wines at Andante Vineyard.
Our Pinot noir clones are Dijon 777, 667, 115, as well as Pommard 04, 91 and Wadenswil. We have also planted Gamay, Aligoté, and Marsanne varieties. All vines are cane pruned, using the Guyot Poussard technique emphasizing the bilateral sap flow through the vines.
The vines are on a VSP (vertically shoot positioned) trellis system and have been grafted onto phylloxera resistant rootstocks, 101-14, 3309, and Riparia Gloire.
