We are a small but mighty team at Andante Vineyard. Working closely together in the vineyard and winery ensures our wines are well guided along their journey from vine to bottle. We are fortunate to have the talented Kelly Kidneigh as our winemaker — Kelly’s hands-off approach ensures Andante wines are equally expressive of the land and the vintage.

Our vineyard manager Stirling Fox knows Andante Vineyard intimately and makes sure the fruit coming to the winery is ripe, balanced, and healthy. Co-owners Karen Saul and Joe Allan oversee the entire operation, ensuring the pieces come together in a harmonious symphony.

Joe Allan

Joe’s dive into vineyard ownership belies an unlikely upbringing in a family that didn’t touch wine. However, in the hot Nevada desert of his youth, far from any vineyards,  Joe honed the driving skills that serve him every day at Andante Vineyard. A doctor by day and farmer by night, Joe is deeply invested in the land, keeping a close eye on the vines, the oak woods, and the pond every day. With his knack for precision and interest in sustainable materials, Joe designed Andante’s winery: a corten steel building that blends into the natural landscape.

Karen Saul

While she witnessed the growth of the region’s vineyards firsthand, Karen never expected to make wine herself. In many ways, Karen’s independent Willamette Valley upbringing — riding bikes on gravel roads, building forts in fields and trees, and bushwhacking through woods — prepared her for the hard work of farming. A lawyer by trade, Karen has immersed herself in the wine business, obtaining her certificate in Vineyard Operations at the Northwest Wine Studies Center at Chemeketa Community College. Her natural warmth and cheerfulness welcome guests to Andante Vineyard, while her indefatigable teamwork with Joe and Kelly guides the winery’s operations every day.



Kelly Kidneigh

Kelly fell in love with Pinot Noir shortly after her arrival in Oregon in 1998. Since then, she has worked with some of the most acclaimed wineries in the Willamette Valley, including The Eyrie Vineyard, Lemelson, Torii Mor, and Left Coast Cellars. Kelly has a degree in fermentation science from Oregon State University. She also makes wines for her family label Mad Violets, as well as wines for other custom crush clients. Kelly is a firm believer in relying on taste rather than numbers to guide her small-batch fermentations, intervening only when necessary.

Stirling Fox

One of the most well-respected vineyard managers in the Willamette Valley, Stirling has overseen Willamette Valley Vineyards’ 300 acres and those of Rex Hill Vineyards. He was also the General Manager of Rex Hill’s sister company Oregon Grape Management before starting his own vineyard farming company, Stirling Wine Grapes Inc., in 2007. Stirling helped Joe and Karen plant Andante Vineyard and has been a champion of the site since day one.

Juan Cruz

Juan supervised the plantings of Andante Vineyard’s first blocks and he’s been part of the team ever since! Juan has 12 years’ experience in vineyard management and has worked alongside Stirling for eight years. He brings patience and diligence to the many tasks he takes on at Andante.

Nestled in the rolling hills near the Van Duzer Corridor, our 15-acre estate vineyard is planted with our beloved grapes: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Aligoté, and Gamay Noir. Our wines are fermented naturally, expressing the true nature of the grapes and the site on which they are grown. With a small production every vintage, our wines are available in limited quantities at our winery, at our online store, and through select retailers and restaurants in the Willamette Valley.
